Below are the details on how to use the chrome extension to apply a template when creating a Jira ticket. There will be less need to clone tickets going forward.

Make sure you are using the latest version of the extension.

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

Follow the below steps to install and import the json file that will contain all the templates you may need.here

Menu Options to import file

Chrome menu top right Preferences Extensions Select “Details” on the Ticket Template for Jira Extension Extension Options

Show Options and then Share Your Template

You should choose to overwrite Once you upload the Json file you will get the below message Select “Save Options”

An alternative way of adding a template is available via the right-click menu

Applying Templates to existing tickets

If you want to apply a template to an existing ticket then this needs to be done via the old view which is accessible via the menu with 3 dots in the top right. If you don't see this option under 3 dots click the ticket number. You can only apply the template via the right clock menu, changing the issue type won't apply the template like it does when you create the ticket.

How to access “Old view” in Jira

To edit the template you need to access the Jira Old View

When you have the ticket opened and you can the ticket's URL in the format of https://errigal.atlassian.net/browse/(ticket number) you will get the old view option under the actions menu ( 3 dots in top right )

If you have opened the ticket from a search result you will need to click on the ticket number located above the summary of the ticket. This will ensure will have the correct action menu is available.

You could also add ?oldIssueView=true to end of the URL after the ticket number Example https://errigal.atlassian.net/browse/SUPPORT-2063?oldIssueView=true
