IDMS Support Page - Training Videos

Training Videos - Background

Training videos are created to assist users when interacting with the IDMS platform to carry out work. By following along with a short video outlining a task or process, the user will be able to carry out that task themselves and can refer back to the video if necessary.

Training videos are created in line with each sprint to describe how a new or improved feature works. There are also training videos that outline the basic functioning of each IDMS application.

New training videos are typically deployed to the Support Page during each release. More information on the Support Page can be found on the IDMS Support Page section of this wiki.

All relevant training videos are stored in the following repo: Errigal Videos Repo

Uploading A New Training Video

The steps involved with uploading a new training video to the support page are as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Support Page Dashboard by selecting the Dashboard button from the header menu on the Support Page.
  2. Note: you must have admin privileges to do so.
  3. Select the Manage Files controller to upload the video file.
  4. Select Add New File and add the video file, naming it accordingly.
  5. Now that the video file has been uploaded, you must make sure there is a corresponding entry for the training video in the Manage Training Videos section.
  6. From the Dashboard screen, select the Manage Training Videos Controller.
  7. To create a new training video entry, select New Training Video.
  8. On the new training video screen, fill in the Name, Sprint Value, Application accordingly.
  9. From the video drop down menu, select the video file you uploaded
  10. Once you are finished, select the Create button to create the new Training Video entry.
  11. Verify the changes have been successful by reviewing the user guides on the front end.

Note: It's good practice to remove old and unused files from the Manage Files controller after a new batch of files have been loaded. Simply go into each file and select Delete to remove them. Any files that are associated with User Guides or Release Notes etc. will be linked and will not be allowed to be deleted.
